Outdoor Festival Essentials: The Jazz Fest

Essentials Buy Here

I absolutely love attending various outdoor Jazz festivals, in fact, I've just returned from attending the 8th annual Pittsburgh International Jazz festival featuring, Marcus Miller, Kenny Garrett, Gregory Porter, Teri-Lynn Carrington, Sean Jones and a host of others. Although it was a short road trip from Cleveland, I carefully planned my weekend getaway in order to assure a memorable Jazz Fest experience. Needless to say, my weekend was perfect and for that reason I decided to compile a list of tips for enjoying Outdoor fun; entitled ‘Outdoor Festival Essentials' so that you too can have a memorable Jazz Festival experience.

Like Pittsburgh, most outdoor Jazz festivals are free, family friendly events that offer unique opportunities to hear new music and see legendary artists perform live. Planning is essential so make sure to view and download the official festival map and scheduled events prior to attending. These guides will help in locating the restrooms or first aid stations as well as provide info on artists and times they perform. Unlike concerts, festivals are usually held in public spaces, generally requiring that you bring your own lawn chair or blanket for two. Since these events are outdoors, most people bring their coolers and beverages of choice, especially bottled water, however check the website for the do’s and don’ts. If you don’t like carrying coolers etc, never fear, various vendors are often in abundance selling everything from food to fashion so bring a few dollars just in case. Check the weather. You may need a light jacket, sunscreen, a hat or swim suit. Make sure your phone is charged or have a portable charger on deck, you will be taking pictures and posting them. Lastly, check for parking facilities and wheelchair accessible locations. Enjoy your summer outdoor festival.
